Things I’ve learned along the way

I can’t speak a foreign language while driving.  In fact, I can’t speak English well while driving.  I focus on preserving my life.

I can’t eat sardines after 9 PM.  Not sure why…I just can’t.

I love beets.  I don’t love that they stain the teeth though.  Once my son questioned me after I consumed beets, had I been eating people?  I must have been quite a sight!

I love complementary colors! They turn my head.

In my book, Dijon mustard now ranks higher than regular mustard. I crave it and even dip my McDonalds french fries in it. (I think it’s cheaper than ketchup here, so we see it often with fries.)

I like hanging clothes on the line. Being outside and being productive while having uninterrupted thoughts–bliss! My least favorite is hanging socks, but hey, I’m glad my family values clean socks!

Time with family is priceless. Words can’t describe my gratefulness.

No matter how dark something is, light will always dispel it.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5

“God is light and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.”

  1. So sweet and simple yet so profound — just like you Lish! You remain one of my favorite people of all time. What a blessing to have counted you a friend.

    1. Awww, this made me cry, April. And then I giggled because I remembered a sweet and simple time–toting around our 64 oz. water jugs! And both emotions remind me of our friendship, both deep conversations and a lot of laughs. Love you.
