When we first moved in, we were surprised to find a banana tree in our backyard. In the spring we spied a bunch of green bananas. We let them continue to grow throughout the summer and then we cut them down in September. Overgrown and abnormal, Hannah awaited their ripening.
Oops. Rottenness was not what we expected! Left on the tree for too long, they grew too large and fibrous. They smelled banana-like but had a yucky texture–only good for Hannah’s dolly picnics. I hope that we get another chance!
